The forthcoming IR Global conference in Singapore will mark another step in Paul Beare’s growing presence in a market that is increasingly important to global business.

We’re so pleased to be attending the Singapore event,” says Paul, who, in addition to being a longstanding member of the network since 2013, was also named member of the Year in 2023.

“Working with clients from across the globe, it’s becoming clearer that Singapore is an emerging superpower for trade and investment,” Paul says, pointing to the growth in the country’s economic ties and prestige.

A richer path

And for UK companies there is a clear path towards investment, as Singapore-based businesses are increasingly active in areas where the UK government is keen to provide investment and financing support.

“We’re seeing a lot of activity in the maritime, fintech, deep-tech and digital sectors, with businesses looking to invest both in Singapore and the UK, and as result the ties between the two territories are deepening all the time,” say Paul, who has carved out a niche as the UK’s leading accounting firm helping overseas companies set up and grow in the UK and beyond.

“The fact that we’re already speaking with Singapore businesses in those sectors and looking to connect with more speaks volumes,” says Paul. That is borne out bythe continuing growth ofthe Singapore-UK FinTech bridge which is designed to strengthen financial cooperation and benefit between both countries and presents opportunities for Asian FinTech businesses to explore opportunities in the UK.

“We’re especially excited about prospects in the maritime space,” Paul says, pointing to the UK’s commitment to decarbonization and automation, driven by the Maritime 2050 strategy and the UK SHORE programme. Under that strategy, the UK Government intends to fund just under half a billion pounds to develop clean maritime technologies over the next 5 years, on the path to net zero by 2050.

So given all that, we’ll be looking to increase our presence in that exciting sector.

A growing commitment

Paul Beare Ltd also recently decided to join the British Chamber of Commerce in Singapore, marking another step towards a growing presence in the country. “That was a really important and helpful step to make,” Paul says, “And we’re also connected with the likes of EnterpriseSG and UK DBT which is vital in helping us support clients in their UK expansion plans.”

The IR Global event will see the formal program kicking off on Wednesday, March 11th, and run through Saturday, March 14th. This year’s agenda features a balanced mix of professional and social activities designed to foster meaningful connections.

For Paul, everything is driven by relationships: “As with every IR Global event, the focus will be on two key things: getting the latest insights and outlook from the network of professionals across the world; and of course to catch up with our network of trusted and valued partners. There’s no substitute for getting face to face with your network, and IR Global Singapore should be no different.”
